We're all the way to C, so it's a long walk to our apartment. The balconies are about 4 feet deep and about 12 feet wide. Then you have to pay for any premiums or like HBO and all that stuff.
I have toured Lake St. Charles Retirement Community. The only thing we didn't like is they don't allow scooters, and my mom needs one. The person who gave me the tour was very compassionate and knowledgeable. They had a lot of large, open gathering areas. I think they got a movie theater, ice cream, and coffee bar.

My mother-in-law moved in at Lake St Charles Retirement Community 3 months ago. We were very impressed when we toured the facility for the first time. It offers everything we were looking for and more. The place looked very inviting and clean. The staff that we've met has been very friendly.

So they are planning to move her to Florida. My friend's daughter only stayed in this facility for like a week. My daughter is a registered nurse and she did visit her and my daughter said she should have not taken her in the facility because it was really horrible. She even saw my friend's daughter, she was sitting out smoking because it's really depressing. So they took her out of there right away.
I appreciate this facility as well as the staff. They keep me ver informed of things or when something happens. This facility smells and looks clean. The food the patients are fed looks appealing and smells so good!

However, we've been here in such a short time we haven't had an opportunity to take part in any of it. The people here seem to take part in a lot of activities though. The majority of nursing home residents are older adults who need around-the-clock medical supervision. For seniors with less severe medical needs, assisted living or home health care may be a better option. I visited this facility 2 weeks ago. Not what I expected from a nursing home.
Lake St. Charles was very complete with their care and services, which impressed us, and the price point was much better than anywhere else we looked. We visited both assisted living and independent living. They offered us some meals, but we did not take them up on it. It's not brand new, but it's very well kept up. The staff is very attentive for all matters and is truly like an extended family.
The facility is clean, healthy, and creates many special activities thru out the year. From Christmas parties, , Veteran day activities, brunches, spring parties, and a multitude of things always going on. Weekly Bingo and great transportation to doctor appointments all included.
They were very caring and they took pretty good care of her. She had no sores or anything on her, and she was happy with it. What was nice about it was, even though she was in skilled care, it’s like you have a separate room, but you don’t. They had a curtain in-between and they all had a big window in their rooms that they could look out to. All the rooms that I could see were like that so that was very, very nice for skilled care. We went to Lake St Charles Retirement Community.
She's very helpful, answered all our questions, and was very positive with her manners. Lake St Charles Retirement Community is probably my favorite of all the places I looked. It was very green with lots of outdoor green space. They had a specific room that was set up as a demo, as opposed to looking at a blank, empty room. You could get a much better idea of what it would look like that way. The food was very good, and the dining area was clean, bright, and light.

But for the most part, they were useful in helping guide us. The facility itself was nothing special, and had several floors on which housed certain types of residents. As a result, you really end up saying ‘hi’ or exchanging a few words with the residents, even before you end up to the room of the resident you were trying to see. The room that my resident was in seemed a little isolated, but that wasn’t really anyone’s fault. What it did mean was that people didn’t come by often, save for the staff, whom my resident seemed to like a lot. There were common areas where a few residents spent time, which was nice to see.All in all, I liked the place.
It's really awful and the place is dirty. So now she's staying at her own apartment with an in-home care service. My friend is at Lake St. Charles.

They got games, puzzles, magazines, newspapers, and just anything you want. I had a cousin in The Sarah Community. She was in nursing and she was on private pay and I think it makes a big, big difference. The staff was very friendly and they liked my cousin a lot. She was not able to get up on her own, they had to use a Hoyer lift, but when she was up, she could move around in the wheelchair on her own.
